Hayden Paddon fronts Mt Smart Next-Gen spectacle

On Saturday 28 October Hayden Paddon will launch the ‘Next-Gen Motorsport Day’, being held at Auckland’s Go Media Stadium Mt Smart – a free entry event being hosted by ACE Motorsport.

The event showcases future technology and talent in the motorsport industry, and will be headlined by Paddon doing demonstration runs in the world’s first Hyundai Kona EV rally car and the New Zealand championship winning Hyundai i20 Rally2.

Alongside the Hyundai’s, will be invitational demonstrations from a Semog Crosscar and the Auckland University FSAE kart. Plus the inclusion of the Heart Kids New Zealand celebrity go-kart race, including Sarah Walker (Olympic silver medallist), Bryce Casey (radio host), Ben Barrington (actor) plus eight others.

While off-track, the public can enjoy interactive challenges such as race simulators, tyre change challenges and competitions. With all winners from each activation racing for the podium in the public race at the days end.

“This free public event is a family-friendly display of motorsport in the Auckland region. Our team are organising plenty of entertainment for an exciting afternoon. We encourage you to join us at Go Media Mt Smart Stadium to enjoy the action,” commented Paddon.

Adding to the day is the EVolocity National Rally Day, where high school students from across the country will race their electric karts on the track. Designed and built in their respective classrooms.

The Hyundai New Zealand Next-Gen Motorsport Day is free admission. Gates open at 10 am and the public is encouraged to join from 12pm to enjoy the afternoon’s entertainment.
