Heimgartner eyeing flip of Tailem Bend fortunes back to winning ways

Riding a wave of momentum in his 2023 Supercars season, Kiwi Andre Heimgartner heads to The Bend Motorsport Park this weekend looking to reverse his fortunes from a year ago at the South Australian circuit.

Gold Coast-based Heimgartner left Tailem Bend in 2021 with his first career Supercars victory, but in 2022 left in an ambulance after a frightening start line crash with rookie Thomas Randle.

Now in his second season at Albury-based Brad Jones Racing, Heimgartner sits sixth in the championship on the back of six podium finishes, including four in the last six races, but is yet to stand on the top step in 2023.

Inspired by his team’s consistently strong performances on circuits with a variety of different challenges, the 28-year old’s calm confidence demonstrates his belief that victory is a matter of ‘when,’ not ‘if.’

The OTR SuperSprint is the eighth race event of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship season, and hosts Races 20, 21, and 22 of the current championship.

The event also marks the 600th race round in Supercars history and will mark the first races for the new-for-2023 Gen3 Supercars in South Australia.
