All to play for as One-Hour South Island Endurance titles to be decided in Christchurch

The final fourth round of the Carter’s Tyre Service South Island Endurance Series will decide the One-Hour titles this Saturday at the Mike Pero Motorsport Park in Christchurch.  One slip-up from any of the leading contenders means that all the hard work in the previous three rounds will be undone.

With 20-points for making the grid and a maximum of 75 for the win, eight drivers have a mathematical chance of winning the overall Class C (>3500cc) and Class D (GT) title.  Having won all three races this season, Ryan Woods (Porsche 991.1) leads by just 33-points from Marco Schelp (Porsche 997 Cup S) with Jarrod Owens five-points further back.

While Class C will be decided by the overall contenders, the Class D title has effectively been handed to Bruce Davidson (Chev Corvette C6R) with the withdrawal from the final round of Chris Henderson (Toyota GT86 V8) with engine problems.

It’s a similar situation in the separate race for the overall Class A (0-2000cc) and Class B (2001-3500cc) title with 13 drivers with a mathematical chance of winning.  While Rhys Gould (Hyundai i30N TCR) has won two of the three races held in the series, having missed the opening round, it is Scott O’Donnell in a similar Hyundai TCR that has the overall lead.  Dennis Chapman (Audi RS3 LMS TCR is in second, four points behind, with his wife, Debbie Chapman (Audi RS3 LMS TCR), in third.

As Gould has proven difficult to beat in the last two outings, O’Donnell just needs to finish well and ahead of Dennis Chapman to win the title and Class B honours.  In Class A, Tim Dossett (Honda Civic) leads by 17-points ahead of William Taylor (Honda Integra) with Brad Rule (Honda Civic) in third.

Qualifying gets underway on Saturday morning at from 9am with two separate One-Hour races starting from 10:20am.  Spectators are welcome, only $20 at the gate with children under 16 free.
