A fantastic line up of motor racing classes headlined by the mighty OSCA Super Saloons is heading to Teretonga Park in Invercargill this weekend (3/4 December).

The action, presented by Downer, features OSCA Super Saloons, Pre 78 Classic Saloons, South Island Formula 1600’s, Pro 7/8 Saloons, NZ Six Saloons, Mini 7’s, Pre 65 Saloons and Noel McIntyre Drainage Club Saloons on a full two-day programme.

The OSCA Super Saloons will be a feature particularly with Steve Ross of Dunedin in his Jaguar Tranzam XK, Cameron Jones of Palmerston North in his turbocharged Mazda RX7 and reigning champion Michael Gallagher of Ashburton (RX7) going head- to-head. Former champion Laine Etwell of Rolleston returns to the series in his Pontiac GTO while Pierre Neame of Winton (Mustang), and Invercargill drivers Kyle Dawson (Nissan Skyline) and Kieran Roberts (Commodore) will be on the grid.

The Pre 78 Classic Saloons will be another top class with Leon Hallett of Mosgiel in his Mustang a leading contender while fellow Mustang drivers Roy McDonald of Dunedin and Rodger Cunninghame of Te Anau are sure to also be to the fore. The field will be one of incredible variety.

15-year-old Southland driver, Alex Crosbie, the reigning New Zealand Formula Ford Champion, takes to his home track in the SI Formula 1600 Championship races in his Ray GR21. Blake Knowles of Prebbleton has a narrow lead over Crosbie as they come to this, the third round of their series. Crosbie’s mother, Rachael Beck, will line up on the same grid as her son in a Class 2 Van Diemen RF92. One thing always guaranteed with this class is intense wheel-to-wheel racing.

The Noel McIntyre Drainage Club Saloons will see the continuation of the battle at the front between Jordan Michels and Liam MacDonald with Brian Scott also thereabouts in his Porsche. Father and son Boyd and Harry Wilson will debut their ex-NZV8 cars, an ex-Kayne Scott Holden Commodore for Boyd and a Falcon for Harry.

Discounted tickets are available from Auto Centre, Tweed Street, Invercargill and E Hayes & Sons Dee Street, Invercargill while children 14 & under accompanied by an adult are free.

The action commences at 9.30am on Saturday and 9.00am on Sunday.
