Sun shone on the wet Levels Raceway and the Ashburton Car Club as they hauled in 8- points last Saturday (11th June) in the latest Canterbury Interclub Series round. The times for the 4-laps tumbled as the track dried in the afternoon and 32 competitors tried to shave off seconds to move up the field.

Gareth Evans (Skyline R32) claimed the win just under 0.7 of a second ahead of fellow Ashburton Club member Kris Brown in a similar car on 4m 24.4s. Neville Stowell (Skyline GTR) (main picture) from the South Canterbury Car Club was third with 4m 29.1s.

Ashburton Car Club ran a great event and their 14 competing members did well to hold Canterbury Car Club’s 10 members, led by Terence Philips (Civic), to 66-points. The remaining club to gain points towards the Interclub series was Ratec Motorsport with 2 members picking up 19-points.

This is just the second of eight rounds so there is still a long way to go. The next event is the Ruapuna Autocross on June 25th which already has a large entry.
