Super Formula action at Sugo for Liam Lawson this weekend

It’s the fifth round of the Super Formula Championship this weekend taking place at Sportsland Sugo in Japan.  Kiwi Liam Lawson has a four-point lead over Ritomo Miyata heading into the round.  At 3.586km it is one of the shortest tracks on the calendar and also unforgiving.

Lawson has described Sugo as very much like a New Zealand circuit with not so many ‘run-off’ areas and grass-lined to the track surface. With an elevation change of nearly 70 metres the track features a unique, famous final corner with a 10% gradient.

Drivers face a very short lap with the record of 1m 06.350 which means that finding a clear space for a qualifying run will be most important.

In the past, Safety Car periods have been a feature of the SF racing so tactics and race plan will be very important to a final result.

TIMETABLE:

Saturday: FP1 12.10pm – Qualifying begins at 5.00pm

Sunday: FP2 12.55pm – Race 5.30pm
