Van der Drift and Giltrap win Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia round in Shanghai

Absolute Racing’s Chris van der Drift and Marco Giltrap dominated the latest round of the 2023 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia in Shanghai, China, over the weekend setting fastest laps in both qualifying sessions and winning both races while also setting fastest lap times.

“What a weekend her in China,” commented van der Drift.  “It now makes it six wins in a row for Marco (Giltrap) and myself and eight for the season.  This is great preparation for the World Finals in Italy in November.  Thanks to the team once again for a flawless performance.”

Second in race one was the TRT Racing entry of Jonathan Cecotto and Li Qiang, who denied third-placed Wells and Lee the PRO-AM class win.

Van der Drift and Giltrap were once again untouchable with another dominant charge from pole in race two, but this time Wells and Lee would not be denied the PRO-AM win, clinching the title in the process. Lommahadthai and Pasarit took the third overall podium place, winning the Am class ahead of title rivals Brian Lee and John Kwon of SQDA – GRIT Motorsport with whom they had started the race equal on points at the top of the class leaderboard.

The final sixth round will take place at the Vallelunga circuit in Italy 16-17 November 2023 right before the World Finals 18-19 November 2023.

Drivers and teams involved in the continental series, challenge each other every year at the Lamborghini World Finals, the event that winds up the Super Trofeo sports season. Two qualifying sessions and two races crown the world champions of the series.
