Repco Supercars Championship points leader Brodie Kostecki (No. 99 Coca-Cola Chevrolet Camaro) posted a blinding final lap in qualifying on Saturday afternoon to take pole position for today’s race at the OTR SuperSprint in Tailem Bend, South Australia.

The 25-year old West Australian returned to Australia on Thursday after making his NASCAR Cup Series debut last weekend in Indianapolis, and was an impressive 0.36 of a second clear of his nearest rival as he took his fifth pole position of 2023.

Sophomore Ford racer Thomas Randle (No. 55 Castrol Ford Mustang) qualified second to post his best qualifying result of 2023. It equals his career-best start from the same venue in 2022, though that result was mired by a frightening start line crash.

Randle’s teammate Cam Waters (No. 6 Monster Energy Ford Mustang) will line up third for today’s race, with 20-year old Broc Feeney (No. 88 Red Bull Ampol Chevrolet Camaro) fourth, and Chaz Mostert (No. 25 Mobil 1 Optus Ford Mustang) fifth.

With just 67-points separating championship leader Kostecki and fourth-placed Feeney, the title battle appears set to continue its close nature in today’s race.

Fellow championship contenders Shane van Gisbergen (No. 97 Red Bull Ampol Chevrolet Camaro) and Will Brown (No. 9 Coca-Cola Chevrolet Camaro) will start sixth and eighth respectively for today’s 100-kilometre sprint race.

Race 20 of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship season from the OTR SuperSprint begins at 4:30 p.m. ACST.

This weekend’s event marks the 600th race round in Supercars history, and is the first to be held in South Australia since the race introduction of the Gen3 platform which commenced competition earlier this year.
